So what can we glean from this account of creation? 1) Life is the presence of God in us—even if we are living in disobedience. 2) Humankind is designed to manage God’s creation—to work and care for this world. Work is a part of life before the fall. 3) There will always be limitations on us—limits that we do not necessarily understand—we are supposed to trust God regardless. 4) Humankind is designed to be incomplete without others of their kind—we are to live in fellowship with each other.
I don’t know how many generations have come and gone since this account, or how many cultures have attempted to change basic instincts, but human-kind is still pretty much as it was created. That is a pretty impressive creative act!!!
